Dr. Lester Grinspoon celebrated his 92nd birthday on June 25 and passed away in the early morning of June 26, with his wife Betsy by his side. An associate professor of psychiatry at the Harvard Medical School and senior psychiatrist at the Massachusetts Mental Health Center, Dr. Grinspoon was one of the earliest proponents of cannabis. He became interested in the late 1960s when he began research that formed the basis for his first book Marihuana Reconsidered, published in 1971. “After three years of research on cannabis, I concluded that not only was it much less harmful than alcohol or tobacco, but also that no harm it might cause was nearly as serious as the damage attributable to the annual arrest of 400,000 mostly young people on marihuana charges,” Grinspoon wrote in the introduction of the 1994 reprint of his book. “I naively believed that once people understood that marihuana was much less harmful than drugs already legal, the laws against it would be repealed.” Sadly, Grinspoon would not live to see that happen. But he never stopped trying.

STero aims to determine if CBD, the non-psychoactive component in cannabis, can enhance the effect of corticosteroids — the first line of treatment for autoimmune illnesses like inflammatory bowel disease and lupus — or enable reducing steroid dosage while maintaining or improving its therapeutic effects.
Stero has a broad US patent covering 130 autoimmune and inflammatory diseases, including Crohn’s disease, hepatitis, arthritis and chronic urticaria (hives). “The patent covers botanic and synthetically produced CBD, at any dosage and in combination with other drugs,” Read more: https://www.israel21c.org/cbd-may-improve-steroid-therapy-…/ #COVID-19 #Cannabis "In a study published in the January 2020 issue of Psychological Medicine, researchers scanned the brains of people with psychosis following a dose of CBD. Based on these images, the researchers propose CBD as an exciting new frontier in the treatment of psychosis." Building on early and preclinical work surrounding CBD and psychosis, a powerful new placebo-controlled study strongly suggests that yes, CBD could treat psychosis.

Mark and Lesley Gibson, both 55, had faced three charges.
They included an allegation that they had in their possession illegal cannabis-laced chocolate bars. Mrs Gibson, who has multiple sclerosis, said that she was forced to find an alternative source of the drug after the NHS withdrew the cannabis based medicinal spray she had depended on for more than a decade. Without it, she said, she suffers from a range of distressing symptoms, including intense pain, body spasms, and sight loss. Pets all over the world have been successfully using CBD for arthritis, epilepsy, PTSD and other conditions. Information about it’s benefits is spreading among pet owners and veterinarians alike and the interest in using CBD for our pets is growing fast. As I adopt senior dogs with health issues, I got to see first hand the amazing benefits of a good quality CBD product. Here is the story of my first rescue.
One day I went to a kennel to look for a dog, Shiba was the only one that did not get up to greet me. I walked over to her, she was just laying on the ground amongst the other dogs. I tried to pet her. She was obviously in pain. Her eyes were just a milky cloudy color, she was sad… She had been at the kennel for over a year, nobody wanted this sick old dog. Yet she was the only dog I could think of when I got home that day. Could I help her? I called the adoption lady and said, I want the sick pitbull, she needs my help. Soon she was delivered to me and our journey began. I was told she probably would not live longer than 2 more years, due to her poor state of health. I could not stroke her as a normal dog, due to severe body pain from the arthritis. But she wanted to be close to me. First thing I did was to remove normal dog food from her diet ( no chicken ever again ) and add some CBD Shifa oil to her daily regime. I had a few drops on a treat and gave it to her regularly. Due to her body pain and being almost completely blind, we only walked short walks and in open spaces, so she would not bump into things. I could see the shame on her when she did, felt so sad for her and kept promising I would never give her away. And within just a few weeks, she got a lot more confident walking outside. Even though her eyes were permanently damaged, she started being able to avoid walking into benches and light poles, moving more securely around when we were outside. The milky layer covering her eyes became less and less. Moving up and down the stairs became easier as she could both see the steps better and not having to deal with so much arthritis pain. Her whole demeanor changed, from sad and defeated, to happy and hopeful. As we continued our treatment, she just thrived. I could just shout “Shiba, do you want your medicine?” and she would come running. She knew she was doing better, she could feel it. This dog, that was considered useless for somebody, became my everything. And due to her new lifestyle of health and CBD, she lived for 5 more amazing years. Not just 2 short years as I was warned could happen when adopting her. Traveling with us to cannabis fairs, being our office dog and my best fur friend. A big gentle giant with a loving caring heart, loved by everybody that got to know her. When her time finally came and she was getting weaker, I took her to the vet to make sure it was not something else healthwise bothering her. The x-rays showed no sign of arthritis at all any more, it was gone, reversed. She was just old and her time had come. She was almost 15 at this time and that is a good age even for dogs that have had only a healthy and happy life. She took her last breath peacefully on my lap at home and I will always remember everything I learned from her. I hope people will give their dogs a chance to thrive or at least aid their issues with CBD. It’s so little, but can do so much. Make that walk a bit easier for your long time companion. Our furry family deserves only the best.. So many dogs, especially senior dogs can get a much better quality of life with a good CBD oil like CBD Shifa Oils. |
